My Story

I fell in love with storytelling before I even learned how to write. From sketching picture stories in crayon to discovering a blossoming love for creative writing, I created stories out of anything as I was growing up. My love for writing led me to write for my high school’s newspaper, then to pursue undergraduate degrees in public relations and English, and most recently, to earn a master’s degree in integrated advertising and public relations.

Through all this, I’ve discovered I love helping others share their stories as much as I love creating my own. Now emerging from graduate school with over two years of combined agency and social media experience, I’m grateful to have worked with a diverse range of brands to help build their online presence and solidify both internal and external messaging.

If my journey so far as a storyteller has taught me anything, it’s that there are stories all around us waiting to be told. Whether spotlighting local businesses in a blog post, promoting a company’s brand on social media channels or engaging in creative forms of writing, I find it my responsibility to give the stories around me a voice.

Novelist Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie delivered a beautiful Ted Talk about the danger of a single story that inspires me every day in my efforts to become a credible, ethical storyteller. She assigns storytellers a responsibility to not only tell a wholistic story, but to provide many stories.

“Stories matter. Many stories matter. Stories have been used to dispossess and to malign, but stories can also be used to empower and to humanize. Stories can break the dignity of a people, but stories can also repair that broken dignity.”

Words, and lack thereof, carry power and meaning. Every person and brand has a story to tell—and not just one. I believe every story deserves to not only have someone fighting for its voice, but someone fighting to make sure its words heal rather than divide. Here are a few of the stories I’ve helped share.
